Near the beginning of December 2016 Microsoft acquired LinkedIn for 26 billion dollars. The two companies finalized their deal on the eighth. Microsoft, in its integration plan, has a set of goals that could bring about great changes in the digital world, or as most see it, a new world of marketing.

What’s the Plan, Stan?

At a glance, Microsoft is planning to make LinkedIn a part of the Microsoft software much like you would have Microsoft word or PowerPoint as a necessary part of your PC package.

  • LinkedIn will become a part of Outlook and Office Suite
  • LinkedIn notifications will appear within the Windows action center
  • Sponsored Content will appear across Microsoft properties
  • There will be an Enterprise LinkedIn Lookup powered by Active Directory and Office 365
  • LinkedIn Learning will be available across the Office 365
  • To Redefine social selling through the combination of Sales Navigator and Dynamics 365

In depth, Microsoft plans to make LinkedIn an essential part of their software system by weaving it into existing parts of the Microsoft software bundle that is readily available to anyone that owns a Microsoft computer.

Just like, or similar to the outlook system that Microsoft has in place, LinkedIn Notifications will be available within the desktop area of the computer. Even to those who are unfamiliar with LinkedIn and how it works, Microsoft will provide a detailed tutorial so that users can learn how it works and also how to properly use the software.

The feature of sponsored LinkedIn content within Microsoft’s software will allow companies to advertise what their services are to a much wider and brand new audience. At the same time, it will allow people who are interested in this sponsored content to research job opportunities or just as likely, it will allow for chances to generate more business.

A whole New World

As we know it, LinkedIn is a platform often used as a page for marketing either businesses or individual professionals. Their mission is more or less to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful. Before the integration into Microsoft, LinkedIn had over 433 million members marketing their companies and viewing the pages of other companies.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has over one billion users. After their integration, and implementation into Microsoft’s software, that number of people will be using LinkedIn through Microsoft. That means over a billion people will be creating, viewing and marketing LinkedIn pages.
